The integration of academia and industry creates the perfect synergy for learning, advancing science and technological development. This was our motivation to insert the process mining industry in the context of the process mining course we taught in the second half of 2020.
- The first participation was from Celonis: Josephine Huberts (Academic Alliance Manager at Celonis) conducted our experience with Celonis. The practical activity was very instructive. We, teachers and students, love the experience!
- Then, the Brazilian Everflow: the Everflow tteam brought a very nice hands-on and also talked a little about the process mining market in Brazil. Besides being instructive, it was a lot of fun. We loved meeting the people at Everflow. We thank CEO Kleber Stroeh and the entire team!
- Apromore was the third to participate: we were honored with a guest lecture by Professor Marlon Dumas who presented this case of success. Professor Dumas is one of the most prominent researchers in Process Mining and Business Process Management. He is also a co-founder of the company Apromore. The students really enjoyed the experience, for sure.
- Closing with flourish, another Brazilian, UpFlux: Cleiton dos Santos Garcia and Alex Meincheim told us a little about the history of UpFlux and showed us the platform. We loved to see how process mining has helped to streamline healthcare processes, especially when efficient process management in hospitals and healthcare management organizations is so necessary. We were also motivated by the possibility of establishing research partnerships for this application area while students realized the feasibility of undertaking process mining in Brazil.
We at the University of São Paulo, together with our partners from Celonis, Everflow, Apromore and Upflux, managed to create an environment conducive to learning, technological development and entrepreneurship.
